Clan Tourney Success in Kotei Season 2013 #8

Three Kotei went down this weekend – Malmo, Seville, and Fort Worth – with two wins for the Phoenix and one for the Mantis. I am sure you will all join me in utter astonishment at this. In addition to those two Clans, the Unicorn and Imperials had strong weekends.

We do not have complete data for Seville at the time of posting, but all other Kotei are included in the table below:

Torn Asunder
Players % of Field Made Cut Won % Made Cut Relative Chance of Making Cut
Crab 201 12.1% 49 3 24.4% 18.7%
Crane 149 8.9% 21 1 14.1% -31.4%
Dragon 154 9.2% 28 18.2% -11.5%
Lion 196 11.8% 35 3 17.9% -13.0%
Mantis 193 11.6% 54 5 28.0% 36.2%
Phoenix 222 13.3% 57 11 25.7% 25.0%

Unaligned 83 5.0% 20 1 24.1%
1667 353 21.0% 20.6%
A brief moment of silence for … wait, wrong Kanaye

Make the Cut Rankings

1 ) Mantis – 28%
2 ) Phoenix – 26%
3 ) Crab – 24%
3a ) Unaligned/Imperials – 24%
4 ) Unicorn – 23.1%
AVERAGE – 21%
5 ) Scorpion – 20%
6 ) Dragon – 18%
7 ) Lion – 18%
8 ) Crane – 14%
9 ) Spider – 14%

The clan-on-clan violence for figuring out who seizes location from whom includes all Kotei so far, except for Seville and Green Bay. Insert yet another obligatory comment about Phoenix getting hosed here, followed by clan-biased whingeing about Crane needing to actually win some more games in the elimination rounds.

Crab take from Phoenix.

Crane take from Dragon.

Dragon take from Lion/Mantis.

Lion take from Phoenix.

Mantis take from Phoenix.

Phoenix take from Mantis.

Scorpion take from Crab/Phoenix.

Spider take from Phoenix.

Unicorn take from Mantis.

    1. I think 8 (two wins by Case playing LoR nonhumans and one by Anthony Calabrese playing LoR not-nonhumans are the remaining 3). Out of the remaining 8, i think one was henshin, one was honor (donnie) and the remaining ones Lizard Wizards.

      I might be wrong, though.

      1. Thx Felipe!
I think this is the kind of data that AEG should also compile, it shows how dominant a Stronghold is. 5/5 KL wins for MN, 8/11 ToP wins for PX – I don’t think those numbers are good news.

        I might be wrong, though.

        1. I wouldn’t necessarily blame the stronghold than the deck. 8 of those wins are Lizard Wizard decks. You can effectively play Lizard Wizards out LoR or even Sacred Temples. You remove ToP from the equation, I don’t think much changes.

You take Quelsa out of the equation however…

          1. You might be right Kevin, maybe the decks run out of a number of different SHs, but the fact is that the players decide to run them from ToP. That HAS to mean something. 🙂
