With European Championships in the bag, there’s now enough data about the Second City to have meaningful numbers about the environment. However, there are some reporting gaps in the data. It includes the six Winner’s Choice and Name-a-Card tournaments, plus the Amethyst Championships, but not the Obsidian Championships (so the biggest U.S. tournament is missing). It has the first two grinders from Euros, but not the third (and there are a handful of random data points missing from the second grinder). And it has the main event and second chance from Euros, but not the invitational.
“Make the Cut %” Ranks
1) Mantis – 29.51%
2) Dragon – 25%
3) Crane – 18.67%
4) Scorpion – 18.64%
5) Lion – 18.57%
6) Crab – 17.24%
7) Unicorn – 15.94%
8 ) Spider – 11.43%
9) Phoenix – 10%
Average rate of making the cut was 18%. On the attendance front, I’m glad to see the Dragon finally rebounding. Other than that, the main point of attendance interest is that the number of people playing Spider has really dropped like a rock (only 6% of players ran Spider). This was kind of true in the Forgotten Legacy environment (where 7-8% of players were Spider), but you could at least blame that on The Forgotten Temple – now almost no one is playing unaligned, but the ratio of Spider players has fallen further.
More detailed information will be available in our forums later today.
