Decks to Beat – Andromeda Plugged-In

As we discussed yesterday, Weyland Tag n Bag has had the most success at winning Plugged-In Tour events. On the Runner side, that honor goes to the woman who laughs at Good Stuff Gabe – Andromeda.

Keep in mind that, as always, the primary purpose of Decks to Beat is not to generate the optimized version of a deck for you to take to a tournament, but rather to present the most typical version of a deck to test against (or for you to tune yourself, if you want).

It’s the post title, people. What were you expecting?

Events (~20)

3x Account Siphon
3x Sure Gamble
3x Special Order
2x Dirty Laundry
2x Inside Job
2x Infiltration
2x Emergency Shutdown
2x Easy Mark
1x Forged Activation Orders
1x Hostage

If you weren’t expecting Events to be the showcase here … well, welcome to Android: Netrunner! It’s great to have a new player. Feel free to look around, and don’t forget to hit up the BGG forums for strategy chat. For everyone else – yeah, as you’d expect, the Criminals pack a load of good events. There are a lot of good choices, however, which is why after the automatic 3x Account Siphon and Sure Gamble, our typical deck is packing a lot of 2x Events. The two direct economy cards – Easy Mark and Dirty Laundry – most often show up as 3x or not at all, but a lot of the others (Inside Job, Infiltration, Emergency Shutdown, Forged Activation Orders) fluctuate a lot from 1x to 3x. Note that there are 21 cards listed, but only 20 slots at the moment – the infrequently seen Hostage will get the axe here, and the third Special Order would go next if we went down to 19 Events.

Hardware (~8)

3x Desperado
3x Plascrete Carapace
2x R&D Interface **

There’s a lot less variation in the small but potent Hardware section of the deck, where the biggest question seems to be whether you should pack that third Plascrete Carapace.

Resources (~6)

2x Kati Jones
2x Daily Casts
1x Jon Masanori
1x Professional Contacts **

Kati and Daily Casts are relatively firmly entrenched as the resources of choice for Andromeda, although you can tell from the 2x status that it isn’t in the same category as, say, Account Siphon/Sure Gamble for having a spot inked in on the decklist. Kati is almost always there is some quantity, but Daily Casts is frequently a 3x or plays Sir Not Appearing In This Film. And Masanori and Professional Contacts only show up in half of the decks. But they’re still more common than the hodgepodge of Compromised Employee, Mr. Li, and Armitage Codebusting that have shown up.

Programs (~3)

3x Datasucker

Know it, love it.

Icebreakers (~8)

50x Let Pobedy
2x Crypsis
2x Corroder
1x Faerie
1x Yog.0
1x Mimic
1x Ninja
1x Femme Fatale

Yes, it’s another instance where the individual cards outnumber the group total. Parts of this are pretty clear – you’ve got Corroder to handle Barriers, a Yog.0 to handle Code Gates not named Tollbooth (well, unless you’ve got a lot of counters on your Datasucker), Crypsis for anything you want, and then a whole lot of choices to tackle Sentries.

Nothing much to shift around from above, although we do need to drop a couple of cards to get to the correct deck size. So bye-bye to Hostage and Femme Fatale. We have, again, ended up at exactly the 15 influence we’re allowed, and so no modifications need to be made based on that.
